Conference Overview

The 2008 NESO Annual Meeting will be one to remember. It will be held in the Renaissance City of Providence, Rhode Island on September 11 – 14, 2008. The Westin Hotel will be the headquarters hotel. It is connected to the RI Convention Center where all lectures, meetings and the Exhibit Hall will be.

The speakers program encompasses 2 ½ days, and is star-studded. Speakers include our keynote speaker, Bjorn Zachrisson as well as Tony Gianelly, Hans Pancherz, Lysle Johnston, Jim Vaden, Terry Dischinger, Rolf Behrants, Gerry Samson, Eric Liou, Mike Rogers, Bill and Tom Wilcko, Gabby Marquez, Chung Kau, Paul Zuelke, Johnson & Gambardella, Michael Swartz, Carolyn Friedman, Lori Garland Parker and Debbie Best. Recognizing that the way we provide our services to patients changes over time, you will see that much of this year’s meeting will have combined doctor / staff lectures. We recognize that our dental assistants are an integral part of the team. A more knowledgeable team player means a better team to provide our patients’ treatment.

There will be a special Thursday afternoon program for our New and Younger Members (in practice from 1 to 7 years) and our residents. I am most pleased to tell you that Thursday’s program will be “An Afternoon with Tony Gianelly and Bjorn Zachrisson” followed by a reception for our N&Y Members and Residents.

Many of you have been to Providence, Rhode Island, and have heard of our city festival WaterFire. At this upcoming meeting, NESO will be the corporate sponsor for WaterFire. On Saturday evening, our registrants will walk down the beautiful Providence Riverwalk to the Corporate Tent of the President’s Reception which will be in the center of the evenings’ celebration.  Since this year’s meeting is in early September, the weather should be spectacular, and I have no doubt that you will fully enjoy our outside city celebration WaterFire. For a taste of what WaterFire is, go to www.waterfire.org

On Sunday morning I think that you are in for a real treat. We have a most unusual program for the doctors, a panel discussion on 'How to Treat Class II Div 1 Retrognathic Mandibles in the Growing Patient, including using fixed functionals'. The program will be moderated by Tony Gianelly, and will include four speaker/panelists: Terry Dischinger, Hans Pancherz, Lysle Johnston and Jim Vaden. This panel discussion should be most enlightening. Gerry Samson from Atlanta will present the mornings’ staff program. If any of you have had the pleasure of being to one of his lectures you will already know that the staff will be in for a fabulous morning.
